Our Mission

A great neighborhood doesn't just happen. It takes a lot of hard work by the people who live in it. When they are successful the rewards are large:
  • The neighborhood is safe. Safe from criminals, safe from traffic.
  • Children thrive. There are playgrounds, activities and good schools.
  • Homes are a pleasure to see. They are well kept and excellent investments.
  • Everyone feels a sense of pride and community spirit, and enjoys coming home to their neighborhood.

Surprisingly, this value set has to be defended against many forces. They work in opposition to associations doing the things necessary to achieve the value set.

To achieve this value set, homeowner and condominium associations have to protect and preserve the values of their members' property and care for common lands owned by the associations, while meeting their fiduciary responsibilities to their members.

Associations therefore have to be able to enforce deed restrictions, maintain the common grounds and provide other services desired by the membership and provide the management to do these things. To accomplish this the associations also have to be able to assess and collect fees, purchase insurance other such services, and pay for the associations' services.

The mission of HANA is to provide information and resources to homeowner and condominium associations with the purpose of strengthening the ability of these associations to meet their communities' goals while meeting their fiduciary responsibilties.

HANA serves all homeowner and condominium associations in Hillsborough County. HANA provides guidance in meeting the obligations of such associations - including, fiduciary, organization, policies and communication. HANA serves as an information exchange between associations with regard to proposed legislation via a database of association leaders, forums, email lists and website/newsletter support.

Working together, we can defend the great neighborhoods that we work so hard to build.
